Plane fare sale for Aquino inaugural

An interesting promo fare in time for Aquino's inaugural  by Philipines' flag carrier, Philippine Airlines.  Read on:

MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Airlines offers a major seat sale on all its domestic routes for the inaugural of Senator Benigno Aquino III when he takes his oath as the country’s 15th president, the airline company said in a news release.

Dubbed “Fly the Flag with the Nation’s Leader,” the promotion slashes one-way, economy-class fares on flights between Manila and any destination in Luzon or Visayas to P888, and between Manila and any Mindanao point to P1,888. Tickets for Cebu-Davao, v.v., are also slashed to P888.

The promo fares already include value-added tax but do not cover airport (ASF) and ticketing service fees. They are available for sale online and at PAL ticket offices and travel agents until June 30, 2010.

Tickets bought on these fares are valid for travel between July 1 and October 15, 2010. Travel must be completed by October 15, 2010.

PAL flies to three points in Luzon (Laoag, Legaspi, Puerto Princesa), eight in the Visayas (Bacolod, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Kalibo, Roxas, Tacloban, Tagbilaran) and eight in Mindanao (Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Davao, Dipolog, General Santos, Ozamiz, Zamboanga).

Since its founding in March 1941, PAL has been the official carrier of Philippine presidents on state visits and important trips.

For bookings and inquiries, customers are advised to visit www.philippineairlines.com or call PAL Reservations at (02) 855-8888 in Manila, (032) 340-0191 in Cebu and (082) 221-5513 in Davao.

At the same time, the flag carrier said close to 40,000 passengers availed of its recent Independence Day seat sales, making them one of its most successful promotions.

PAL ran a number of discounted-fare promotions in the days leading up to the 112th anniversary of Philippine independence last June 12.

The major promo, dubbed “Fly the Flag,” was a novel series of one-day sales covering 12 domestic and international destinations selected for their historical significance. It drew many thousands of passengers, mostly domestic travelers.

Of the 12 destinations included in the promo, the Manila-Bacolod vice-versa route was by far the most popular, attracting the most bargain seekers. The Cebu route came next, followed by Tagbilaran.

On the international side, Singapore drew the most promo-fare customers followed by Ho Chi Minh City, Sydney, and Taipei.

Another PAL promo, called “Proud and Free,” offered similarly deeply discounted fares to 23 international destinations. This one pulled thousands of passengers, mostly bound for Singapore and Hong Kong.

PAL holds seat sale for Tagbilaran

Another PAL seat sale!!!

MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Airlines is holding a "one day only" seat sale on June 4 for Tagbilaran, one of the selected destinations for the flag carrier's Independence Day promotions, the Lucio Tan-led company said in a statement.

Tagbilaran is the hometown of Francisco Dagohoy, who led the country's longest revolt against the Spaniards.

The P612 one-way, economy fare from Manila to Tagbilaran and from Tagbilaran to Manila is available only on June 4 at all PAL ticket offices, PAL web site and accredited travel agents.

The all-in fare is inclusive of VAT but excludes government taxes and ticketing service fee.

Travel period is from June 5 to September 30. Seats are limited.

Dagohoy is a Boholano who led a revolt against the Spaniards from 1744 to 1829. The immediate cause of the revolt was the refusal of a Jesuit priest to give Dagohoy's brother a Christian burial. It took 85 years for the Spaniards to suppress the rebellion.

PAL is offering 2 promos in the days leading up to June 12: "Proud and Free" for international routes and "Fly the Flag" for local destinations.

On June 1, PAL featured Cebu for its one-day-only seat sale.

The P612 one-way, economy fare for Manila to Cebu or Cebu to Manila was made available for the travel period June 2 to September 30.

Cebu was the home of Filipino chieftain Lapu-Lapu, who fought and killed Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan on Mactan island in 1521.
