Get a good deal on fares to Sydney or New Zealand

If you've been thinking about a trip abroad, but airfares to Europe have been out of your league this summer, we've been seeing some good fares from Dallas to Sydney, Australia.

We recently priced a midweek trip in August and found fares starting at $941, including taxes and fees. There is no last day to purchase listed on this sample fare, but we do expect that these deals will stick around for a short while. When we checked, the cheapest fares were on United and Delta, and travel was valid through Sept. 21. If you're traveling with children ages 2-11, United has discounted fares for kids, and you can save more than 20 percent off the adult fare.

If you're in the market for a trip to New Zealand, you can save on your ticket by entering an online contest. Enter the Great Kiwi Adventure Sweepstakes, and you'll receive a code for $100 off an Air New Zealand ticket. You also will get a chance to win four round-trip tickets to New Zealand. If you're making a trip to New Zealand with kids, be sure to book a children's fare, because kids ages 2-11 can save 25 percent off adult fares. This will save you more than the $100 off coupon, but the kids' discount can't be combined with other offers.

Deals on new routes
American is offering introductory fares on new American Eagle service from Dallas to Columbus, Ga., and Cheyenne, Wyo. Round-trip fares from Dallas start at $218 to Columbus and $258 to Cheyenne. Taxes and fees are additional. The cheapest days to travel are Tuesday and Wednesday. Tickets must be purchased by July 23, with a 14-day advance, for travel through Sept. 29.
